Sewing has made an enormous difference to my life… I found I didn’t enjoy reading like I used to because of work, then discovered sewing. It gives my brain a way of recovering & switching off from whilst still being challenging too. I love having a creative outlet which also has such an interesting online community too.
Thanks Thrifty Stitcher for teaching me!

This is SO good to know! My mother developed dementia in her late 50’s. She never was one to read, sew, etc. I’ve always worried that I too would develop dementia later in life. This makes me feel so much more optimistic! Thank you for sharing!

This is absolutely true. I got ill 6 years ago and it changed my life – I had to quit my job, I can no longer drive and I can barely do any of the things I enjoyed before. My life became very, very small and I no longer knew who I was. And then I found sewing. And it gave me life again. With sewing I get to be creative and feel like I contribute again. When I struggle to do anything I will push myself to sit down at my machine and then I’ll feel a bit better. On the days when I don’t sew I feel stressed and a little lost. This all seems quite dramatic, but it is true. Sewing keeps me sane and reminds me I’m human.

      Hi Victoria,

I’m so sorry you got poorly, but really glad that sewing has made such a positive change in your life! It’s definately helped me through some of the most stressful moments in my life, and provided me with a life long career, identity and friends

      best wishes

This is so true. I am even happy now to make mistakes as it means I am trying and learning. Next time will always be better K xXx

      Hi Karen,

Really glad you are embracing the mistakes! Too often in modern life we strive only for the perfect, but it’s our mistakes and imperfections that make us unique, and as you say next time WILL always be better

      Happy Stitching
